Gone Too Soon
Dedicated to "Striker"
May 12, 2006 - December 2, 2006
So that your death was not in vain
An inquisitive and active puppy, Striker died a horrific death when
he LICKED THE PAPER SHREDDER causing the automatic sensor to activate
the mechanism. Even if a dog survives getting his tongue chewed up
in a paper shredder; they will never lead a normal life again. They
may not even be able to go out for a walk, because without the use
of their tongue, they cannot pant to keep themselves cool. They also
will have to be on a soft food diet.
Save Your Pet From
Harm and Your Family From Heartache by Following These Simple Rules:
KEEP PETS AND CHILDREN AWAY FROM SHREDDERS
UNPLUG SHREDDERS WHEN NOT IN USE
DO NOT USE THE AUTOMATIC OPTION
Striker at 7 weeks old on the day he was brought home

and at 7 months the weekend before he died.
From Striker's Mom
(Ellen):
Losing Striker was a horrific
unpredictable accident that has rocked our family. It has been my
mission, this last 3 months, to make people aware of the hidden dangers."We
never would have thought" is what I hear over and over. I KNOW that
word of Striker's death now makes people think about safer places
to keep shredders and pets apart. When I started to spread the word
locally, I hoped that friends would tell others who would tell others
and so on. I NEVER dreamed that we would get the overwhelming response
that we have. It has been phenomenal.
