Pictured above from
left to right are Lori Snyder, Andy Snyder and Corey Bell (kennel
technician) loading up for transport back to the shelter after the
weekend at Boyd's Bear Country.
Andy and Lori Synder of
A&L Transport are quite a pair and have helped us many times loadin'
and movin' horses. Well, this time our need from them was rather unique.
Andy and Lori along with their massive horse trailer made the busy
weekend go smoothly at Boyd's Bear Country and the Adams County Winery
for the people and the animals. With Andy and Lori's help we were
able to load everybody and everything into their horse trailer for
delivery to the events. First stop was the winery and the second stop
was Boyd's Bears. They even came back to help disassemble kennels
and load everything up again for the return trip back to the shelter.
They are really special volunteers and if you have need of a horse
movin' situation you should call them at 717-624-3943.
Jeff Edmiston is pictured here in the round pen working with Marci.
Jeff Edmiston II Owner/Trainer
of Sierra's Gift Mobile Horse Training volunteers to socialize and
build a trusting relationship between our horses and humans. In the
round pen Jeff is shown working with Mercedes, who, until she met
Jeff was unable to trust humans and not very adoptable. Because of
Jeff and his generosity, Mercedes has become more social with people.
This helps them to become more adoptable.
The Adams Co SPCA has a roundpen set up at our large animal facility for those interested in volunteering to work with the horses still needing a home. This roundpen is also available for potential adopters to use when considering one of the horses. Potential adopters can visit and work with their horse before deciding on the adoption. All the necessary paperwork must be complete before hand.
We appreciate Jeff and those like him for helping the animals recover from their past and move on to a brighter future. Jeff Edmiston II can be contacted directly by calling 717-476-9061
If interested in volunteering with our Large Animals please contact
Brandi Luther at 717-334-8876 Extension 26. If interested in adopting
one of our Large Animals please contact the shelter at 717-334-8876.

Speckles and Blue Tick).

Shown here are members
of the Gettysburg College Iota Omicron chapter of Alpha Phi Omega,
a national co-ed service fraternity. The brotherhood brings together
students with an interest in community service, serving the brotherhood,
campus, and Gettysburg community. APO provides service opportunities
both on and off campus and is commited to the ideals of leadership,
friendship, and service. This great bunch volunteered their services
to paint our much needed walls from white to blue. They did an awesome
job, looks great!
Alpha Phi Omega members hard at work painting the walls.

Jenn Wells a senior
at Littlestown High School is holding Buddy (one of our cats
that is looking for a home). Jenn is working on a senior project that
requires 30 hours of service for an organization. Luckily she picked
the SPCA. She has been a great help to the shelter cleaning, filing,
taking pictures of our critters for our website, and many other numerous
tasks.
Volunteer Clay Lott of Biglerville shown here with
Shiloe (who is anxiously awaiting a new home). Our furry felines love
to see Clay come for their cuddle and play sessions.

Volunteers are so important to the animals here at the shelter,
such as Mother (Liz Lang), 17 year old daughter (Shura Lang)
and 10 year old daughter (Leah Lang). Shown here holding new
arrivals Belle and Morgan. The Langs' spend many hours and days
here at the shelter, as well as at home; sewing adorable kitty beds
with just the right measurements that fit the cats cages perfectly.
They also volunteer their time to give the dogs baths and cut their
hair so that they look really good to potential adopters. Some of the
dogs that arrive here often have matts and tend to be in rough shape,
and I'm sure the dogs feel like a million bucks after the grooming session.
What better way for a family to spend some quality family time - we
really appreciate it.
Mother (Kimberly Golden) and daughter (Sierra Golden) volunteer
at the SPCA working with the cats and the exotics. They socialize the
animals (giving them lots of love and attention), groom, refill water
and food if needed, change litter pans etc. The animals love to see them
come for their visits. Kim and Sierra also bring us pounds and pounds
of soda pop tabs to be recycled, with the monies donated to the SPCA.

Volunteers Amelia
Viars, Peter Suchowacky and Jason Leiter shown here with
some of our friendly felines. They come regularly to socialize the
cats, giving them all lots of attention. Time well spent.
