I guess that the reality of what has happened to me has finally become crystal clear. I really don't have my home and family anymore, and it looks like they are never coming to take me from this cage. The name I have been given here at the shelter is Millie, although I know that this is not my real name. They say that I was found as a "stray", although I am declawed and have most likely been spayed already. I have a beautiful long brown tabby coat and the staff think that I am only about 1 1/2 years old. I will never, never understand why my people let me down and didn't fight to bring me back home. I am a very calm, gentle and quiet little girl that enjoys being held and hugged. A visitor was looking at me yesterday, but then she left and so I guess that she didn't want me either. I don't want to have to cry myself to sleep again. Please come to take me home with you soon!

I ask you - what is not to love about a face as handsome as this? My name is Ashton and I am about 4 years old, neutered & declawed with a luxurious, long tuxedo coat. I guess that I am in the same boat as a whole lot of other cats around here, which is pretty darn sad when you think about it. For some unknown reason my family decided to "surrender" me to the Adams County SPCA. No excuses, no explanations - just packed up and dropped off like some kind of discarded baggage. I guess that I have been fooling myself this whole time - thinking that they really loved and cared about me like a member of the family. Since when do you give up on a member of your family and leave them to an uncertain future? Well I am not one to keep worrying about what might have been - I am looking forward to a new and better tomorrow! I am gorgeous, playful and lovable sooo - I am hoping to start my new life real soon!

Holding still for a picture is way to hard for a little guy like me! Hi there folks! My name is Webster and I am just a little boy who is maybe 6 months old and just neutered. My two siblings and I were found on the square in Abbottstown. Talk about scary!! We were in the middle of 4 different roads all coming together and there were cars, trucks and motorcycles all around us!! It was sooo noisy and we didn't know what to do or which way to go. Luckily for us some kind soul bundled us off to the Adams County SPCA. We have been treated so kindly by all of the ladies here and are feeling so much better now! Yesterday I even got promoted up to adoption! Unfortunately my sibs were starting to catch a cold so they have to be held back for a few more days. All the better for me since I am the one and only kitten in the adoption room! You had better hurry on in because everybody will be wanting a cute little guy like me!

Benson - hmmm, yes, I do believe that I like that name! It sounds very distinguished and gentlemanly! I am a very large neutered male tabby that was found as a stray in the Borough of Gettysburg. The girls here think that I might be about 3 years old. I guess that I am pretty lucky here in the adoption room! One of the volunteers took pity on me on my first day after being promoted. I am such a biiiggg boy that I was practically filling up the little cage that I was in! Since a fella named Happy was in a larger pen by himself, she decided that I could be his new cage mate! We got along right from the start, since we are both very loving and laid back kind of guys! Come on in and visit with us today. You might just decide to take home a new friend - or two!

When someone said that life isn't fair, they weren't kidding. My name is Dasher and I am a neutered and declawed male tuxedo cat. For the past 5 years I have been living the good life with a loving family. I never thought that I had to worry about my future. Unfortunately one of my people began having medical problems, which were costing a lot of money. Then one day I was driven to a strange new building, where I could smell a lot of different animal smells and I heard dogs barking too. I was put into a little cage and saw a whole lot of other cats in cages all around me. It is a lot better up here in adoption, but the fact remains that this whole experience is scary and confusing. I just want my family back but I guess that they are not coming back. Now I have to compete with all of these other cats, hoping that the right person or family will take me home with them. My former family said that I am used to kids and am housebroken, so I hope that someone will pick me real soon!

Hey guys! The name's Frankie and I am just hangin' around in the adoption room! Tee hee! At least that's what it looks like in this picture when one of the volunteers was holding me yesterday. Somebody brought me to the shelter from the Orrtanna area. The cozy blanket, full bowl of chow and nice toys here, sure beats trying to find a bite to eat and a safe place to sleep out in the cold! The girls think that I am just a young fella of about 2 years of age and already neutered. Like so many other cats that were brought here as "strays", we had a family once or at least people that took care of us and gave us some attention. All I know is that life "on the road" is definitely not for me! I love people and I want to be hugged and loved on every single day! I sure hope that my forever family will come in here today!

If it is true that a picture is worth a thousand words, then maybe a look at my face will give you an idea of how I am feeling. My name is Brandi and I was brought to the Adams County SPCA from the Latimore Township area. They said that I was a "stray", but it is obvious to everyone that I once belonged to somebody. Please don't be frightened of me just because of a word, "stray". I am a very sweet and loving little girl that was so happy to be held and cuddled by the volunteers. It is so sad how many of my fellow critters wind up in places like a shelter. It is certainly better than being alone, cold, afraid and hungry, but it will never take the place of a loving home. None of us deserve to be in this situation and all of us deserve the very best - a loving and permanent home!

Hi there folks! My name is Spencer and I am one handsome little dude! Not that I'm one to brag, mind you, but the ladies really seem to love me! I just showed up at a family's house in East Berlin, and darned if they didn't already have too many other pets to keep me there! The staff here seems to think that I am a little over 1 year old, so I have a long life ahead of me! I have just been neutered. I am a great combination of snuggle bunny and playful little scamp that will keep you happy and laughing all of the time! I sure hope that I won't have to stay in this cage for very long - I want to be a part of a real forever family right now!

My name may be Happy but I sure don't feel that way. I was originally surrendered a few months ago and after spending some time at the shelter, I thought that I had finally found my forever home. Unfortunately I had only been there a few short weeks, when they brought me back to the shelter. They said that I was having some problems with not using the litter box. I was neutered and declawed in my first home and maybe the declawing had something to do with my current problem. Sometimes after that operation a declawed cat may associate the litter pan with pain and/or just be stressed at having something so important taken away. I am only 2 years old and everyone says that I am a very sweet and loving boy! The folks here say that I always use my box and I just need someone who really understands cats that is willing to work me through my problems (if I even have one!) I am worth a little extra effort since I will give you a lifetime of love and happiness!

I am not sure why they gave me the name Feisty. Actually I'm a pretty laid back kind of guy! At my age (maybe 7+?) one of the few things I get excited about is mealtime! I was already neutered when found as a stray so somebody cared about me at one time. You might be able to tell by my picture that my long coat is in need of some attention, especially in getting rid of the many mats that are making me uncomfortable. If you are looking for a calm and gentle fellow to sit in your lap and brush out while watching the tube - then I am definitely your man!

Howdy pardners! My name is Nyla and I am a neutered male tabby that is about 5 years old. I was found as a stray and taken in by a family for a few days. I guess they were not able to keep me, but they did want everyone to know that I am housetrained and good with kids. Some people say that I look a lot like another cat in adoption called Herbie, except that I have a white stripe on my face! I have long hair that will need a little extra grooming to keep me looking handsome! I am a very sweet boy that loves people and hopes to find my new forever home real soon!

Well you have heard this before at the shelter, but "I'm baaacccckkk!!" My name is Pistasio (one blue and one green eye) and you may remember that I was here for a few months and got adopted to what I thought would be my forever home. Unfortunately for me I guess that it didn't work out since I was only there for about a week. For some unknown reason I was apparently very stressed in that situation. I have been feeling great since I got back here and it was good to see some of my friends again! Yesterday my cagemate YoYo and I got to go to an adoption event at Ace Hardware in Littlestown. It was fun to have some time away from the shelter and we even got to ride around the store in our very own special "baby stroller"! Considering all of the activity and especially with all of the dogs there for the event, everyone said that YoYo and I seemed very relaxed and curious. I bet that we would be fine with a dog in the house since they didn't really seem to bother us at all! I sure hope that I will get a new family soon - one that will be my true forever home!

Let me see...... definition of Spaz sometimes means being weird, clumsy, awkward, odd or stupid. Heyyyy!! I am not any of those things! What I am is a super affectionate young guy that loves people! I was even neutered this week so you don't have to worry about that anymore. My former family brought me to the SPCA and said that I "did not get along with the dog". Now I am not sure what they meant by that - maybe we just had a personality conflict or maybe we were never introduced and socialized properly. All I know is that now I am without a home and I am sitting in a cage in the adoption room. I sure hope that we can get some people to come in here soon! This darn snow has been messing up my chances to get out of here quick! Please come soon and give me my new fresh start at life!

Even though it is spelled different than that other word, my name Snyper might make people think that I am dangerous! Come on - does this look like the face of a killer? I am really small for a full grown male cat that they guess might be about 5 years old. I came to the shelter as a stray from Littlestown and I am a very lovable and friendly kind of guy! I just hope that this name doesn't give me a bad rep! Almost all of the other male cats up for adoption right now are really big guys. Sooo - if you would prefer your new kitty in a smaller size, I'm your man! Come on down to the cat room today and meet your new best friend!

Come on everybody... get your feet, errr, your paws in the air - yeahh!! My name is Miss Tipp and I am so happy to be here at the Adams County SPCA instead of my former "home." I was chained by the neck inside a cage and made to have litter after litter for my "owner" to sell to pet shops. I am a very petite little girl that is about 8 1/2 years old now. I have extra toes on my feet which is the trait that my "owner" wanted for the kittens in my litters. I am finally starting to know what it means to be loved and it makes me feel soooo goood!!! I especially enjoyed it when one of the young male volunteers cradled me in his arms - I just wanted to stay there forever! He made me feel so safe and so special. I share a cage now with a big guy named Star who is quite smitten with me! The two of us even got to go to a special adoption event at the Littlestown Ace Hardware over the weekend. It was a little intimidating for me with all of the people and a lot of dogs, but I was still very curious. I have been getting more comfortable every day and I like to stroll around the adoption room and check out all of the other cats and the cubby holes and cat trees! I am definitely ready for my very own forever home where I will be loved and cherished - and never chained again!

My name is Princess but I have certainly not led a charmed life. I thought that I never had to worry about what would happen tomorrow, but obviously I was wrong. I was surrendered to the shelter and now I am feeling very anxious and unsure about everything and everyone. I am 7 years old and came already spayed and microchipped. I also appear to be a purebred Manx which is why I wanted you to see my profile photo! I am a very vocal little gal and definitely want to be the center of attention. What I really want more than anything is to finally have a forever home, where I will be treated like a real Princess!

YoYo is my name and having fun is what I am all about! I am a beautiful 1 year old female cat with smokey grey hair and a small white patch on my chest. Someone found me in Gettysburg and goodness knows why anyone would want to get rid of a sweetie pie like me! I may be an adult officially now, but I still have the playfulness of a young kitten! I really love feather toys and was jumping as high as I could when the volunteers were playing with me! Laser lights, jingle balls, toy mice - it's all good! Life with me around would never be dull and I know that I could make you very happy. Come on in and meet me today!

Talk about life being unfair. Our names are Herbie and Lucky and we had a very loving home for many, many years. Our Daddy got very sick (terminal cancer) and then he could not go to work anymore. Before we knew what was happening - he lost his home too and had no way to keep us with him. We wanted to be there for him to comfort him and make him feel better. Now we are both in an animal shelter and missing our Daddy so much. Herbie is a big 10 year old neutered male with long brown tabby hair and white paws. Lucky is also a pretty big girl that has short brown tabby hair with some orange patches mixed in between. She is already spayed. At least we get to be in a bigger pen together so that we can still comfort each other. We are both sweet and loving kitties and really miss being in a home - hopefully together!

Another cat abandoned to an uncertain fate. What is wrong with people today? Do they have no shame - no conscience? My name is Claret and I am a sweet 4 year old just spayed female that is white with brown tabby patches. Apparently I was found left behind at a rental property in Straban Township. How did my former "family" think that I was going to find food and water? Don't they realize that they just left behind a member of the family who loved them? I know that I look pretty sad in this picture and it is no mystery why I feel this way. I just couldn't seem to work up a smile for the camera lady. I feel completely at a loss as to why they would do this to me. I really am a good girl and I just want a second chance. This time with a family that would never leave me behind!

Yesterday was my very first day up in cat adoption and I have already gotten a lot of attention! My name is Tiffy and I am a beautiful female calico with white feet that is maybe 4-5 years old. After being found as a stray I was apparently taken in by a family for awhile. Unfortunately they were not able to keep me permanently, but were able to tell the staff that I am good with kids, dogs and other cats! What more could you want! When people come up to the cage I like to roll over on my side and give them my very cutest face! As soon as you pick me up my purr motor goes into overdrive and I get a look of absolute bliss on my face! I am just one of those gals that looks at the positive side of life and knows that my forever family will be here very soon.

I guess that it is a sign of the times, but I will never understand why this has happened to me. My name is Kobe and I am a very large 8 year old boy that is already neutered. I didn't really want to sit still for the photographer so this is the best she could get. The picture doesn't show my cute little orange chin which someone called my 'goatee' ! My owners brought me here to the Adams County SPCA and said that they couldn't keep me for "financial reasons". After 8 long years as a member of the family - it is too much for me to even think about. This cage is waaay too small for a big guy like me and the only time I can really get in a good stretch is for a few minutes a day when cages are being cleaned or volunteers come in to adoption. I sure hope that my wait for a new home and family will not be a long one!!

I didn't feel like coming out of the cage on picture day! In fact I think that the reason that they named me Queen is because I can be a bit of a prima dona sometimes! Some people have compared my beautiful orange tabby good looks with that cat on TV, Morris. I have to admit that there were times when I certainly wasn't showing his calm demeanor! What kind of a mood would you be in if you were dumped outside in the middle of winter and then found yourself carted off to a very scary place with all kinds of strange sounds and smells. A cage also isn't my idea of a place for a relaxing siesta - I prefer a sunny window on a cushy pillow! Lately I have been coming out of my shell and showing the ladies that I can be a sweet girl. Is it too much to ask for what I truly deserve? - a loving home? I am spayed.

Do I have to look up? I really don't want to have my picture taken. I would rather just hide under the blanket in my cage. I never thought that I would be spending Christmas in a cage, but that is exactly what happened. My name is Patches and I am a young, spayed female with a white and black coat. I had finally found a real home where I was loved and adored, but my Mommy was about to be homeless so she had to bring me here. I had a rough life before that since I had spent most of my life in a dark basement after being found as a youngster. Mommy said that I love watching birdies out of the window, but want to stay inside where it is safe. Now I am scared again and my cage is my safety zone. I need to feel protected and loved again. Please just give me a chance ....I know that I can give someone new the kind of love that I gave my first "Mommy"!
