The ACSPCA receives all kinds of exotic and small animals. Some of the animals include gerbils, hamsters, chinchillas, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds etc., the list could go on. Rabbits and small animals are often unwanted because their owners become overwhelmed and don't know how to solve behavior problems. These animals are purchased with little or no research done beforehand on what living with an exotic pet is like.

Your commitment to making the relationship work is the key to its success. Understanding that this living being is counting on you to give of your time to make it work. Training and transition into your lifestyle takes time. Unconditional love is a gift that comes with it.

Please make a list of questions you have regarding the care and handling of the animal. Make sure all of your questions are answered by knowledgeable people, prior to adopting your new pet. Exotic pets make wonderful companions for the right people. You and your new friend can have many wonderful years together.

 Guardian Angel

Hello there, we are Parakeets and our names are Julep and Swizzle. These are names that the staff gave to us when we were brought in ... because our owners never named us. We really like our new names and are soo thankful that we have a place to live for right now. What happened is our owners were moving, so they just brought us here to the SPCA. We are upset, but life must go on and at least we have each other. I am a male and Julep is a female. We really love each other, if you sneak up on us you will catch us kissing. The girls here said that we are entertaining and fun to watch. We would absolutely love to find a new home that will love us, hopefully both of us together!!!

Hi there, my name is Cookie. I am a female ferret and I am only 1 1/2 years old and I am now homeless. I was surrenderd to the SPCA with Snickers because my owners boyfriend was allergic to us. I really thought that she cared about us more than she must have. I guess we were just low man on the totem pole. We got a pretty nice setup here at the SPCA and we are getting along okay, but I can't wait till the day that I can have a nice home and can spend time with the ones that I love. I am a very sweet, cuddly little gal who is just waiting for another chance at a good life!!!

Hello there, my name is Snickers. I am a male ferret and I am just 1 1/2 years old, way too young to be in this predicament. See, my owners boyfriend was allergic to us so she brought us here to the SPCA. It's a shame, because we loved her very much and we were soo happy in our home. But, that's the way the ball bounces and I am determined to find a wonderful home. I would not be a lot of work, actually I love to sleep most of the day. And then of course, I love to be shown affection and to be held. I hope you will be able to find room in your home for me. It would be cool if my sister Cookie could come along too, we love each other very much!!!! Come on by and meet us!!!!

Hi there, my name is Little One. I am a female ferret who is one year old. I was surrendered to the shelter by my family because they were moving. Luckily I still have my sister "Old Lady". We are both really sweet girls and would love to be able to go to the same home, that would be awesome. But, if not, that is okay ... just to have home that will love me and never give me away is all that I wish for. I hope you will come by and meet us. You may have to really look for us, because we like to hang out inside of the big blue tubes snoozing, but we will be sure to come out and say "Hi" if you let us know you are here to see us.

Hello there, my name is Old Lady. Hey, you are as young as you feel and I feel just like a spring chicken. Gosh, I am only 5 years old, life is just beginning!!! I was surrendered here to the shelter by my family with Little One, I'm feeling really hurt right now, but the girls here are cuddling' with us when they have time with their busy schedule. It has really been busy around here. You can't believe how many animals come in the door everyday and it's really sad because most of them never find their family or I should say ... their family never tries to find them. Family is all you have and when it is taken away from you, it hurts. I am going to dream every night about what my life is going to be like in my new home, hopefully Little One will be with me. Please stop by and say "Hi" we would love the company.

Hi there! My name is Chuck. I was purchased at an auction and given to my former owners along with my two brothers, Albuquerque and Filmore. I don't think they ever wanted us ... so they brought all three of us here. They just did not want to take care of us anymore. We deserve better than that, don't we?? We don't ask for awhole lot ... just to be fed everyday and we need love and attention too!!!! If you are looking for a new little buddy to hang out with, I would love to go home with you.

Hi everyone! My name is Filmore and I am an adorable little male tri-colored guinea pig. I was brought to the shelter along with my two brothers after our owner was unable to take care of us any longer. We are sweet little guys and would just really love to have a place that we can call home again - hopefully real soon!

Well hello there, my name is Tobe. I was an owner surrender because they did not have enough time for me. So... I am a little scared here because I am not used to all of the excitement. Once I settle in to my new home, with a little love and affection I should stop being soo scared. I would love a new place where I can get out of the cage and stretch my legs and exercise a little bit. Wow, that sure would be fun!!! Stop on by and say "Hi", hope to see you soon!
